Scripture Study Tip:
Ask these three questions when reading…
1. What does it say?
2. What does it mean?
3. How do I apply it to my daily life?
Scripture: Mark 10:32-45
Title: What do you want Me to do for you?
BIG IDEA: What if we could see Jesus with fresh eyes and be truly amazed by who He is and what He’s done?
Awe & Familiarity: When is the last time you felt genuine awe—either in life or toward God? In what ways can familiarity with Jesus or church cause us to lose our sense of wonder about who He is?
Seeing Jesus Clearly : In Mark 10:32–34, the disciples are astonished by Jesus even as He predicts His suffering and death. What does this passage reveal about Jesus that might challenge or deepen how we see Him today?
What Do You Want Jesus to Do for You? Jesus asks James and John, “What do you want me to do for you?” If Jesus asked you that question right now, how would you honestly answer—and what does that reveal about your view of greatness or success?
Greatness vs. Service : Jesus redefines greatness as serving others (vv. 43–45). How does this definition conflict with cultural ideas of success, power, or influence? What makes this way of living difficult?
Living in Awe Through Action : The sermon challenges us to repent, look for awe moments, and out-serve those around us. What is one practical way you can cultivate awe for Jesus and reflect His servant-hearted example this week?

Scripture: Matthew 22:15-22
1. “Whose image do you bear?” — What does it mean to be made in the image of God?
Talking Points:
Jesus uses the coin as a contrast: Caesar’s image → belongs to Caesar; God’s image → we belong to God.
If we truly bear His image, what does that require of us in terms of identity, obedience, lifestyle, and surrender?
How does remembering we bear God’s image influence our decisions, relationships, and priorities?
2. Why do you think truth often “triggers” people who are living apart from it?
Talking Points:
The Pharisees grew angry because Jesus exposed their hypocrisy and confronted their false beliefs.
Discuss personal examples (without naming people) of times truth felt uncomfortable.
How can we deliver truth with grace, not harshness, even when it confronts sin?
3. How do you respond when someone flatters you or tries to manipulate you?
Talking Points:
The Pharisees and Herodians used flattery to hide their deceit.
Why can excessive praise be a warning sign?
How can believers discern motives and remain humble and grounded when praised?
4. Jesus wasn’t fooled—why do we still sometimes act as if we can hide things from God?
Talking Points:
Why humans instinctively try to conceal motives, sins, or intentions (like Adam and Eve).
The freedom that comes from confession, honesty, and transparency before God.
How knowing that Jesus sees our hearts can change the way we live daily.
5. “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s”—what does this look like today?
Talking Points:
The balance between civic responsibility and spiritual devotion.
What parts of our lives do we willingly “give to God,” and what parts do we hold back?
Time, finances, attention, obedience, worship—what belongs to God in practical terms?
6. Are we offering our whole selves to God or just small portions of our week?
Talking Points:
The temptation to reduce Christianity to Sundays and mid-week services.
What does “surrendering all” look like in schedules, families, work, and habits?
Practical habits that help believers give God more than an hour—daily worship, prayer, generosity, service, obedience.
Constant Reminder
Six questions for gospel-centered discernment. Memorize and ask these six questions to discern and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life.
G - God's glory: Will this decision primarily be about my glory or God's glory?
O - Other Christians: What do other gospel-saturated, Christ-centered, wise friends say about this upcoming decision?
S - Scripture: Does the Bible command, permit, or prohibit this decision? What does inerrant, infallible Scripture say?
P - Prayer: Have you abided with, rested in, asked from, listened to and waited on God in this decision over time?
E - Evangelism: Will this decision give me the opportunity to share the gospel and invite people to faith in Jesus?
L - Lifestyle: Will this decision lead me to live a lifestyle of love marked by the Fruit of the Spirit and holiness?
