Deepens Relationship with Jesus
Community Builder:

● Feed my soul?
● Feed others?
Feed my flesh?
Scripture Study Tip:
Ask these three questions when reading…
1. What does it say?
2. What does it mean?
3. How do I apply it to my daily life?
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:18-2:7
Title: Prayer
BIG IDEA: Prayer is warfare. What do you need to go to the King about?
Share a time when you took your insecurities to Jesus or when someone prayed for and prophesied (spoke God's truth) over you.
What happened next?
What "whispers" do you listen to that keep you from pursuing God and becoming all that He has created you to be?
How can you fight those lies?
Read Matthew 6:5-15. Discuss the four types of prayer Jesus modeled for us.
Share how you use these in spiritual warfare and to deepen your relationship with Jesus.
We are called to pray first and plan second, not the other way around. How do you currently do that in our busy world?
A prayerless life is a powerless life. Where in your life do you feel powerless and need to pray desperately?
Read 1 Timothy 2:5-6
What big, world changing, and “small” prayers has God put on your heart?
Spend five minutes praying out loud for those things right now.
Challenge:
-Set aside time each day this week to pray intentionally about what God has put on your heart.
-Use the model of the Lord's Prayer as a guide. Focus Petition, Prayer, Intercession and Thanksgiving.
-Make this your new, daily habit of praying first.

Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:8-17
Title: Jesus Saves Sinners
BIG IDEA: Every single one of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. And none of us are so good that we don’t need a savior.
Read Psalm 1:1-2 and 19:7-11
What do you think about when you think about God’s Law and the entire Bible?
How is the Bible a map and a mirror?
Read Philippians 3:2-10
When and how did you realize that "we are all on the list" of sinners?
Read 1 Timothy 1:8-11 and 1 Timothy 1:12-13
Many people (even many Christians) believe that if you’re a “good” person you go to heaven.
How would you explain that no one is good, and no one gets into heaven by being good?
How does the realization that no one is good help you avoid judging others?
It can be difficult to believe that no one is so good that they don’t need a savior and no one is so bad that they can’t be saved. What do you do to wrestle with, and rest in, these truths?
How can you increase your pursuit of, and delight in, God’s Word?
Constant Reminder
Judas was a consumer not a worshiper… Mary was a worshiper.
Consumer: its all about me Worshiper: its all about Jesus
Consumer: rolls up and says I hope this church meets all my needs. A Worshiper pulls up and says I hope this church points me to THE ONE WHO HAS MET ALL MY NEEDS.
Consumer: comes in and says this music better be good. A worshiper says I hope the Worship Leader points me to THE GOOD GOOD FATHER.
A consumer says I want to be entertained by todays sermon… A worshiper says I want some Cross centered preaching that makes a difference.
A consumer says it better be fun for my kids. A worshiper says this better equip me to disciple my family.
A consumer says this better make me sit and feel comfortable… A worshiper says this better SEND ME OUT!
