Scripture Study Tip:
Ask these three questions when reading…
1. What does it say?
2. What does it mean?
3. How do I apply it to my daily life?
Scripture: John 21:1-25
Title: Follow Me
BIG IDEA: When Jesus says “follow me,” He isn’t offering a second chance at life. He is offering a new life…His life.
How has our study of the Gospel According to John impacted your relationship with Jesus?
READ: John 21:1-8
2. Have you ever wanted to give up on Jesus? What happened and what did God teach you?
3. What tempts you to return to your old lifestyle? Why are you tempted to return?
READ John 21:9-14
4. What does is it look like to live in a REAL relationship with Jesus? Does your life resemble what’s happening in these verses?
READ John 21:15-19
5. What is God revealing to you in your personal time with Him?
6. Where is Jesus saying, “follow me” and inviting you to take a step of faith right now?
Read: John 20:30-31
The question is, do you believe? Do you believe that Jesus is not inviting you to a second chance with the hopes you will get it right this time? No, Jesus is inviting you to follow Him into a whole new life! Where is Jesus calling to you, saying, “Follow Me?”
Challenge:
-Admit you are a sinner in need of a Savior
-Believe that when Jesus died and rose again that counted for you.
-Deny Self
-Follow Jesus

Scripture: John 19:38-20:31
Title: If the Tomb is Empty…
BIG IDEA: Jesus meets us in our humanity: in our fears, in our insecurity, in our sorrows, in our doubts, and he offers us faith. Do you believe?
This week let’s all share what our life looks like with Jesus as Lord, and how that is different than our life before we were saved.
READ: John 19:38-42
What do we learn about Joseph and Nicodemus in these verses? What has following Jesus cost you?
READ: John 20:1-10
What stands out to you from these verses?
READ: John 20:11-29
What commands and promises does Jesus give both the disciples present, and the disciples of today?
READ: John 20:30-31 & Psalm 95
How has your faith in Jesus led you to find true life?
Jesus meets us right where we are. We see the Resurrected Christ meet the insecure, arrogant, downcast, doubters, and the overwhelmed.
How are you coming to Jesus right now? How is He meeting you right where you are? Is anything standing in the way of deepening your relationship with Jesus?
Challenge:
During your quiet time this week, read Hebrews 11:1—11 and consider the following:
God’s word: The writer of Hebrews wants us to know that sometimes we have to look back in order to move forward. God has always been faithful because that is who He is.
God’s faithfulness: Where has God been faithful in your past? Write ALL of them down (big and small).
Present reality: Write down ALL of your fears, insecurities, doubts, and pain from the past/present.
• Connect the dots: Looking at both lists, draw lines from your present fears/insecurities/doubts/pain to the specific places God was faithful through similar feelings and situations in the past.
Constant Reminder
Judas was a consumer not a worshiper… Mary was a worshiper.
Consumer: its all about me Worshiper: its all about Jesus
Consumer: rolls up and says I hope this church meets all my needs. A Worshiper pulls up and says I hope this church points me to THE ONE WHO HAS MET ALL MY NEEDS.
Consumer: comes in and says this music better be good. A worshiper says I hope the Worship Leader points me to THE GOOD GOOD FATHER.
A consumer says I want to be entertained by todays sermon… A worshiper says I want some Cross centered preaching that makes a difference.
A consumer says it better be fun for my kids. A worshiper says this better equip me to disciple my family.
A consumer says this better make me sit and feel comfortable… A worshiper says this better SEND ME OUT!
