3/1/26

REMAIN

REMINDER:

A Disciple…

● Doesn’t just remember a moment — they remain in a relationship

● Depends daily on Jesus, not occasionally

● Trusts the Gardener even in pruning

Produces fruit that reflects Christ

Community Builder:

What have I done this week to…

● Intentionally remain in Jesus?

● Trust Him in an area that feels like pruning?

● Show visible fruit in my relationships?

Drift quietly without realizing it?

Scripture Study Tip:

When reading John 15 (or any passage about abiding), ask:

• Where do I see connection emphasized?

• What does this reveal about dependence?

Is there evidence of fruit in my life that only comes from abiding?

Bonus question:

Am I enrolled in Christianity… or engaged with Christ?

Scripture: John 15:1–17

Title: Remain

BIG IDEA:

Salvation is not a decision you made once.

It is a relationship you remain in daily.

Discussion Questions

“I am the true vine” (v.1)

What does it practically look like to depend on Jesus as your source rather than your own strength, success, or stability?

“Apart from me you can do nothing” (v.5)

What areas of life are we most tempted to live independently from Christ? Why is independence so appealing?

The Role of Pruning (v.2)

How do we typically interpret seasons of loss or discomfort? How might God be using pruning to increase fruit?

Bearing Fruit (vv.8–11)

What does real spiritual fruit look like in adulthood? How can we measure growth without turning it into performance?

“Remain in my love” (v.9)

How does remaining in Christ’s love shape the way we love difficult people?

Friendship with Jesus (vv.14–15)

Jesus calls His disciples friends. How does viewing salvation as friendship change the way we approach prayer and obedience?

You can pray a prayer and never remain.

Drift is quiet.

Disconnection is subtle.

But fruit only grows where there is abiding.

CHALLENGE:

● Establish a daily rhythm of remaining in Christ

● Identify one area of pruning and trust the Gardener

● Choose one intentional act of Christlike love this week

Do not live off yesterday’s decision.

Remain today.

2/22/26

REMINDER:

A Disciple...

● Loves All People

● Discovers Identity in Jesus

Deepens Relationship with Jesus

Community Builder:

What have I done this week to…

● Feed my soul?

● Feed others?

Feed my flesh?

Scripture Study Tip:

Ask these three questions when reading…

1. What does it say?

2. What does it mean?

3. How do I apply it to my daily life?

Scripture: John 14:1-31

Title: The Way

BIG IDEA: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Discussion Questions

“Do not let your hearts be troubled” (v.1)
What are some practical ways we “cast our cares” on God but then take them back? How can we intentionally keep our burdens surrendered to Him?

Heaven is about Who is there
The sermon emphasized that what makes heaven heaven is being with Jesus. How does focusing on being with Christ change the way we think about eternity?

“I am the way, the truth, and the life” (v.6)
Jesus makes an exclusive claim that He is the only way to the Father. Why is this message controversial today? What does it mean that the gospel is “exclusively inclusive”?

Knowing the Father through Jesus (vv.7–11)
How does your view of your earthly father influence how you see your Heavenly Father? In what ways does Jesus perfectly reveal the Father’s heart?

The Role of the Holy Spirit (vv.15–26)
Jesus promises the Advocate who will live in believers. How have you experienced the Holy Spirit teaching, guiding, convicting, or comforting you?

Peace That the World Cannot Give (v.27)
What is the difference between temporary happiness and the lasting peace Jesus offers? How can peace during difficult seasons become a testimony to others?

The conclusion called for surrender. No matter how someone walks in—burdened, grieving, distracted, or seeking—Jesus meets them where they are.

CHALLENGE:

Surrender fully to Jesus.

Stop chasing temporary happiness.

Commit to seeking Christ and trusting Him with a troubled heart.

Constant Reminder

Judas was a consumer not a worshiper… Mary was a worshiper.

Consumer: its all about me Worshiper: its all about Jesus

Consumer: rolls up and says I hope this church meets all my needs. A Worshiper pulls up and says I hope this church points me to THE ONE WHO HAS MET ALL MY NEEDS.

Consumer: comes in and says this music better be good. A worshiper says I hope the Worship Leader points me to THE GOOD GOOD FATHER.

A consumer says I want to be entertained by todays sermon… A worshiper says I want some Cross centered preaching that makes a difference.

A consumer says it better be fun for my kids. A worshiper says this better equip me to disciple my family.

A consumer says this better make me sit and feel comfortable… A worshiper says this better SEND ME OUT!

Six questions for gospel-centered discernment. Memorize and ask these six questions to discern and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life.

G - God's glory: Will this decision primarily be about my glory or God's glory?

O - Other Christians: What do other gospel-saturated, Christ-centered, wise friends say about this upcoming decision?

S - Scripture: Does the Bible command, permit, or prohibit this decision? What does inerrant, infallible Scripture say?

P - Prayer: Have you abided with, rested in, asked from, listened to and waited on God in this decision over time?

E - Evangelism: Will this decision give me the opportunity to share the gospel and invite people to faith in Jesus?

L - Lifestyle: Will this decision lead me to live a lifestyle of love marked by the Fruit of the Spirit and holiness?
